WESTLAND, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) — Police said no weapons were found after they were alerted to a possible threat at John Glenn High School in Westland on Wednesday.

In a message to parents, school officials said they had been notified that a student may have brought a weapon to school, prompting a soft lockdown at John Glenn High School and the William D. Ford Career-Technical Center.

A school spokesman said police had not identified any serious threat to students, staff or facilities.

“Ensuring the safety of our school community is our highest priority. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Westland Police Department for their prompt and professional response,” spokeswoman Jenny Johnson said in a statement.

In Oakland County Three students were charged for allegedly threatening South Lyon East High School. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the charges stem from separate social media posts from Sept. 8.

A 15-year-old girl in the Whiteford School District in Monroe County was taken into custody for allegedly sharing a picture of a firearm in a group chat and threatening to shoot at the school. District officials said they were notified of the alleged threat by a family member of the teen and immediately called police.
