How much does Disney+ cost?

Disney+ costs $8 per month if you don’t mind ads. (There is no annual option with this plan.) If you don’t want ads, it will cost you $14 per month or $140 per year.

However, Disney+ is not Disney’s only streaming service. After acquiring 21st Century Fox, Disney also controls Hulu and also offers the sports-focused service ESPN+.

  • Disney Bundle Duo Premium, which includes Disney+ and Hulu without ads for $20 a month.
  • Disney Bundle Duo Basic, which includes Disney+ and Hulu (both with ads) for $10 per month.
  • Disney Bundle Trio Basic with Sports, including Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ (all with ads) for $15 per month.
  • Disney Bundle Trio Premium with Disney+, Hulu (both ad-free) and ESPN+ (with ads) for $25 per month.

Hulu’s prices are currently as follows:

  • Hulu with ads: $8 per month or $80 per year.
  • Hulu without ads: $18 per month, no annual option.
  • Hulu with Live TV costs $77 per month with ads on the on-demand content and $90 per month without ads.
  • The Disney+ add-on (with ads) costs $2 per month.
  • The ESPN+ add-on costs $11 per month.

And the prices for ESPN+ are:

  • $11 per month or $110 per year.

Impressive video and audio quality

Disney+ offers select content in Dolby Vision, the dynamic HDR version of Dolby that offers evolving content to supported TVs to get the best contrast out of each scene, as well as Dolby Atmos, which offers an immersive, hemispherical soundstage for those with supported hardware.

While Dolby Vision is becoming more common, both Vision and Atmos are still a rarity in the streaming space. They are supported by only a few services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+, and are available for a limited but growing amount of content. One of the most enticing aspects of Disney+’s 4K content – at least for Star Wars fans – is the availability of the Star Wars films, including the original trilogy (i.e. the ’90s special editions) in 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos support, making Disney+ the only way to watch these films in these formats.

And as if that wasn’t enough, 15 of the MCU films are available in IMAX format, making the images 26% larger (assuming your TV or projector can handle it).

If you’re concerned about family entertainment, Disney+ offers four simultaneous streams on its service for a basic fee of $8 per month.

What is not included

In keeping with Disney’s family-friendly programming approach, there will be no R-rated projects on Disney+. Any films or TV series that cross the boundaries of Disney’s typical PG-13 audience will be redirected to Hulu, according to various reports. This includes titles such as Marvel’s Dead Pool.

How do I get Disney+?

To start a Disney+ subscription, all you need to do is go to the Disney+ website and create an account. Once you’ve selected a membership, you can start streaming movies and shows right away.

Unfortunately, Disney+ does not currently offer a free trial for any of its subscription tiers.
