Joe Hamilton is missing from the radio broadcast of the Georgia Tech game without explanation
Syracuse defeated Georgia Tech with an unexpected 31-28 victory on Saturday, knocking the No. 23 Yellow Jackets out of the top 25.
But that wasn’t the only story to emerge from the ACC showdown, as Georgia Tech radio analyst Joe Hamilton missed the game, with no explanation yet given for his absence from the commentary booth.
Accordingly the Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionThis was Hamilton’s first absence since becoming the Yellow Jackets’ radio analyst in 2022. He was replaced in the booth by former Georgia Tech center Sean Bedford, who held that role before Hamilton.
While it is understandable that commentators miss tasks from time to time, the strangest thing about Hamilton’s absence is that no one seems willing to provide an explanation for it. According to the AJCthe director of operations for Georgia Tech’s flagship station, 680 The Fan, did not respond to two emails sent Saturday seeking comment on Hamilton’s absence, while a program spokesman declined to respond, referring to the radio station.
Hamilton also did not respond to requests for comment from the newspaper. Awful Announcing has also reached out to 680 The Fan but has not yet received a response.
A former star quarterback at Georgia Tech who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014. After his legendary college career, he played professionally in various leagues – including four seasons in the NFL – before embarking on a coaching career that brought him back to his alma mater.
