Donald Glover postpones North American tour to “focus on my physical health”

Some fans of Donald Glover will have to wait a little longer to see him live.

The musician, actor and comedian who raps under the name Childish Gambino has postponed the remaining North American dates of his ongoing The New World Tour to focus on his “physical health.”

“Hey everyone. Unfortunately I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks,” Glover, 40, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), advising his fans to “hold on to your tickets.”

The Mr and Mrs Smith Star continued, “ALL tickets for the upcoming North American dates will remain valid if they are rescheduled. Thank you for the privacy. Thank you for the support. Thank you for the love.”

The New World Tour kicked off on August 11 at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma and since then he has performed shows in cities such as Milwaukee, Detroit, Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans.

Glover had previously postponed his September 8 show at the Toyota Center in Houston “due to illness.”

His tour is scheduled to stop in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle and other areas across the United States and Canada through October 3 at the United Center in Chicago.

The subsequent European and Oceania legs of the New World Tour are still planned for late 2024 and early 2025 respectively.

Bando Stone and the New Worldwhich will be released in July, will be Glover’s last album as Childish Gambino. “It really was like it was over,” he said previously The New York Times. “It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build that way anymore.”

He explained that the decision to abandon his stage name was also influenced by the declining success of full-length albums, difficulties with touring, life as a father of three sons (Legend, Drake and Donald Glover III), and his film and television projects, as well as his multimedia company Gilga.

Elsewhere in the NYT In the interview, however, the “This Is America” artist made it clear that he “always” wants to “make music.”
