The price of the lottery ticket is reasonable for a South Carolina woman who won the grand prize after years of trying

According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, one woman has spent exactly the same amount on lottery tickets over the past five years.

The Aiken woman’s ambition to buy only $3 scratch cards eventually paid off when she won the $100,000 grand prize in a lottery game, authorities said in a press release.

“I told myself that one day I would win it,” she said in the press release.

That day came when she stopped after breakfast to purchase a scratch-off ticket at the Price Shell gas station/convenience store on Whiskey Road in Aiken, the news release said.

She took the crossword ticket home and scratched it off on her porch, revealing the six-figure prize, officials said.

Despite her determination and faith, the woman said, “I couldn’t believe it” that she had finally found a big winner, the press release said.

The woman did not say what she planned to do with her new windfall, but told officials that she would continue to play the lottery – for a price. She would stick to her routine and only buy $3 tickets.

The winner is afforded a certain degree of privacy because South Carolina is one of eleven states – along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia – where lottery winners can remain anonymous.

The odds of winning the top prize in the Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword game were 1 in 600,000, according to the press release. One of the game’s eight top prize tickets has not yet been claimed, officials said.

Price Shell received a commission of $1,000 for the sale of the claimed ticket, the press release states.
