One of the few notable events in an otherwise uneventful summer (at least so far) for the Los Angeles Lakers was their selection of Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the NBA Draft in June. The son of LeBron James played one year of college basketball at the University of Southern California and has become a polarizing figure.

While he struggled for much of his summer league stint in July, he has played well in his last two games and has finally been able to score from the outside somewhat consistently in those two games. He has some good physical tools to work with and the hope is that he will eventually become a serviceable player at the next level.

On the elder James’ web show “The Shop,” it was revealed that his superstar teammate Anthony Davis had spoken to him via FaceTime after his son was drafted, but Davis did not want to speak to him – the big man wanted to speak to the younger James.

Regardless of what you think of the younger James, he and his father will share a heartwarming moment, as in a few weeks they will become the first father-son duo to play together on the same NBA team. The elder James has stated on numerous occasions that it has been a dream of his to play alongside his son.
