KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – The search has begun for twin girls who were kidnapped from a Belton man while the suspect held their mother at gunpoint.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that troopers were notified at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, that 21-year-old Malik K. Hardy was last seen with nine-month-old twin girls, Iris and Halo Gannaway.
According to state police, Hardy threatened the girls’ mother with a firearm before taking the children from their home.
Investigators said the twins were abducted Sunday from their home near Spring Valley Road and Bel-Ray Avenue, near South Haven Baptist Church in Belton.
Troopers said they are looking for a silver 2016 Ford Fusion from Belton with Missouri license plate TK7Z6U driven by Hardy that was last seen traveling north on I-49 from Missouri Highway 58.
Investigators determined that Iris has a birthmark on her right leg and was last seen wearing a blue shirt with no pants. Halo was last seen wearing a shirt of unknown color with no pants.
Hardy was described as a 21-year-old black male, weighing 150 pounds and standing 5’9″ tall. He has black hair and brown eyes. No pictures or further information to identify the twins were provided.
State police have reminded residents that Amber Alerts are issued only in the most serious cases of child abduction.
