Here are suggestions on how to beat the odds.

NFL GAMES OF WEEK 1

TENNESSEE TITANS at CHICAGO BEARS (-3.5): The Bears are on the rise, in part because they are getting rid of Justin Fields, which is a big win for them. Caleb Williams will be good. CHOICE: Bears -3.5

PITTSBURGH STEELERS at ATLANTA FALCONS (-4.5): I don’t like putting my money on Kirk Cousins. Or betting as an underdog against Mike Tomlin. But I like Fields to get weaker. If there’s anyone who could ruin the Steelers’ undefeated streak, it’s Fields. CHOICE: Falcons -4.5

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at MIAMI DOLPHINS (-3.5): Tyreek Hill getting arrested on the way to the game is definitely a weird feeling. I think the Dolphins will still win, but the Jags will keep the battle exciting. CHOICE: Jaguars +3.5

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at CINCINNATI BENGALS (-7.5): Jacoby Brissett looked pretty terrible at Eagles and Pats practices this summer. The same was true of New England’s offensive line. CHOICE: Bengals -7.5

HOUSTON TEXANS (-3) at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Texans seem to be on the rise. Anthony Richardson is still a question mark. CHOICE: Texans -3

MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-1.5) at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Giants’ offensive line is still a question mark. It doesn’t deserve any confidence. CHOICE: Vikings -1.5

CAROLINA PANTHERS at The Saints of New Orleans (-3.5): I need to see something from Bryce Young before I can give the Panthers any confidence. CHOICE: Saints -3.5

ARIZONA CARDINALS at BUFFALO BILLS (-6.5): The Bills have had a weird offseason. Josh Allen is perfectly capable of carrying his team, but I don’t know if that will work out well against a Cards team that could be more mediocre than downright bad. CHOICE: Cardinals +6.5

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-3): Jim Harbaugh wins. And I don’t trust the Raiders’ quarterback situation. CHOICE: Chargers -3

DENVER BRONCOS at The Seahawks in Seattle (-6.5): I think Geno Smith and the Seahawks get more credit than they deserve. Sean Payton may be unlikable, but he could still be a pretty good coach. CHOICE: Broncos +6.5

DALLAS COWBOYS at CLEVELAND BROWNS (-2.5): Deshaun Watson is really bad and he’s playing without his left tackle. The Cowboys should be the favorites here; that’s my Lock Of The Week pick. CHOICE: Cowboys +2.5

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-3.5): The Bucs finished well, but were pretty bad at times last year. The Commanders were perhaps a little underrated. CHOICE: Commanders +3.5

LOS ANGELES RAMS at DETROIT LIONS (-4.5): I’d rather have Dan Campbell playing to win than the cowardly Sean McVay any day. CHOICE: -Lions 4.5

NEW YORK JETS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-3.5): Aaron Rodgers was also a member of the Niners in the past. CHOICE: 49ers -3.5
