Falcons release list of inactive players for first home game of the week against the Steelers

ATLANTA — After coming off a relatively healthy week, the Falcons released their list of inactive players 90 minutes before their first home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Antonio Hamilton Sr. was out Friday with a groin injury, meaning most of the Falcons’ 53-man roster was fit to play.

This also means that the Falcons have decided to leave four picks from the 2024 NFL Draft inactive for Sunday’s game.

Running back Jase McClellan, wide receiver Casey Washington and defensive linemen Ruke Orhohoro and Brandon Dorlus were listed as medically unavailable. With outside linebacker Bralen Trice on the injured list and defensive lineman Zion Logue on the practice squad, that means the only 2024 NFL Draft picks who will be active on Sunday are quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and inside linebacker JD Bertrand.

Penix is Kirk Cousins’ backup, while Bertrand is listed behind Kaden Elliss on the team’s official roster.

In other quarterback news, Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson was listed as the Steelers’ third emergency quarterback on Pittsburgh’s inactive list. Wilson showed up on the Steelers’ injury report this week with a calf injury and was not selected for Pittsburgh until shortly before the game.
