Nicole Kidman misses the Venice Film Festival awards ceremony due to the death of her mother

Nicole Kidman came to Italy for the awards ceremony at the Venice Film Festival, but had to leave the country shortly after landing due to the sudden death of her mother Janelle Ann Kidman.

The perfect couple Star took home the award for Best Actress for Babygirl at the Italian festival, but was not present to accept the award. Instead Director Halina Reijn accepted the award on behalf of the actress.

“I am in shock and need to go to my family, but this award is for her,” said Reijn as she took the stage. “I am eternally grateful to be able to tell you all her name. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”

Brady Corbet, who accepted the Silver Lion for Best Director following the announcement of the award for Best Actress, expressed his condolences to Kidman at the end of his speech.

In early January 2022, Kidman announced that her mother was ill, but did not provide any further details at the time.

“We are here (in Australia) mainly to look after my mother and surround her with her grandchildren,” the Oscar winner said on NPR. Fresh air Podcast. “Fortunately, even though the (COVID-19 strain) Omicron is raging in this country, we were able to take her to the gallery after work yesterday and show her the Matisse exhibition, which for me as a mother who raised me in art, was very, very – it was a soothing balm.”

The Big little lies Star had previously revealed that her mother had been a driving force in her career and had always pushed her to focus on herself.

“She gave me the fire to pursue my career because I always wanted to please her,” Kidman said. The Sydney Morning Herald in 2020. “But she also went her own way and wanted her daughters to have the same opportunity to go their own ways.”

She continued, “Mom didn’t necessarily have the career she wanted, but she was determined to give her daughters the same opportunities. That’s what gave me my life. And she gave me my life, her and my dad.”
