SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame was desperate to turn the momentum of its home opener back in its favor. Aside from the first possession of the game, it was Northern Illinois that did it. The second half should have started better. Thankfully, it did.
At the start of the second half, the Huskies stormed forward at will, but the Irish defense held firm despite a timeout and the offense was in great position after the Huskies missed a 53-yard field goal attempt.
On the Irish’s first offensive drive of the second half, (autotag)Jeremiyah Love(/autotag) was the player who looked the most relaxed. His runs were impressive and it seemed only a matter of time before he did something big. He did just that, running the ball 34 yards into the end zone and even throwing in an impressive hurdle to give the Irish a 14-13 lead early in the third quarter:

The best thing about a great hurdle is that it either goes completely wrong or it’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen. There’s no in-between. Jeremiah Love just did the latter.
