Perhaps the biggest game of the 2024 college football season yet is rightly attracting all the media attention this week.

In addition to ESPN’s “College GameDay,” FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” will also be in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this week, hosting Saturday’s game between No. 9 Michigan and No. 3 Texas at Michigan Stadium. Legendary Olympic medalist Michael Phelps is the guest picker for ESPN, but Fox isn’t lacking in star-studded talent for its kickoff show.

A matchup of top-ten teams this early in the season between a packed Big Ten Conference and the SEC could have significant implications later in the first year of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. It will be the programs’ first meeting since the 2005 Rose Bowl Game, when Texas emerged victorious thanks to a walk-off kick by Dusty Mangum, beating the Longhorns 38-37. That is the only time the two teams have ever faced each other.

Michigan – the defending national champion – is coming off a 30-10 win over Fresno State in Week 1. The Longhorns defeated Colorado State 52-0. This is Texas’ first season in the SEC.
