A man who brought a ventriloquist’s dummy to the cinema swore on the Internet that the cinema would have canceled “immediately”.
Going to the movies with a friend or date can be a lot more fun than going alone, but those around you might not approve if you happen to have a ventriloquist’s dummy with you.
The dolls have earned a terrifying reputation over the years, along with other dolls, through horror films and their often “creepy” appearance.
One man, however, was not deterred and brought a ventriloquist’s dummy named Raymond into the cinema in a suitcase, which caused “concern” among the audience.
Post about the experience, X-user Florian BettencourtTwombly said Raymond was gathered in his own place (the allegedly paid) with a bag of popcorn and presented to the cinema-goers.
Florian described the man who accompanied Raymond as “funny and charming”, but also called the situation “crazy” and revealed that Raymond was even forced to “talk”.
Many reacted to the post by saying that they would “leave immediately” if they were in Florian’s situation.
“There’s no chance I’ll still be sitting next to Raymond when the lights dim,” one person wrote. Another said that just “reading” Florian’s post made him feel “cursed” because he expected the picture of Raymond to “turn his head.”
However, there were also people who supported Raymond’s participation: “Mind your own business and let the man and his damned Victorian doll enjoy the movie.”
Responding to a commenter who was not impressed that a photo of Raymond was taken and shared online, Florian said: “He was also taking photos and encouraging that. You can’t bring a ventriloquist to the movies, give him popcorn and start taking photos of him without expecting others to do the same.”
Florian said the man behind Raymond “even asked us to tag him,” but did not reveal his username to moviegoers before the end of the film.
