Packers QB Jordan Love apparently suffers a lower leg injury in the final seconds against the Eagles
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was escorted from the field after sustaining an apparent lower leg injury with six seconds left in his team’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday.
Love, who was attempting to throw a pass to a teammate as the clock counted down, was hit by two Eagles defenders and taken to the ground. He remained on the field, writhing in pain, before team doctors examined him. Love was taken to the sidelines and did not return to the game.
Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis, who joined the team in late August, replaced Love for the final two plays. He threw an incomplete pass and was sacked, ending the game.
Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.
When Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked after the game about the severity of Love’s injury, he said, “I don’t know.”
Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract in July that keeps him with the Packers through the 2028 season. The deal included a record $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in new full guarantees, according to ESPN.
Love, who played sporadically during his first two seasons in Green Bay, shone last year in his first full season as a starter.
The 25-year-old started all 17 games last season and threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a passer rating of 96.1. In the last eight games, he went 6-2 with 18 touchdowns and just one interception and led the Packers to the playoffs.
