Angel Reese put in another outstanding performance on Friday as the Chicago Sky defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 92-78.
The rookie scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to secure another double-double after already setting the record for most double-doubles by a rookie. Reese has now recorded 26 double-doubles this season and is just three away from breaking the Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA record of 28 in a single season.
Reese was also efficient, making 9 of 15 shots, showing improvement in the weakest area of ββher game this season.
It was a battle of the freshmen on Friday as Sparks freshman Rickea Jackson, the No. 4 overall pick, posted 17 points and six rebounds, but that performance wasn’t enough to defeat Reese and the Sky.
Reese’s performance received a lot of praise from his fans on social media.

Reese is averaging 13.3 points and 13.2 rebounds this season and is probably Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark’s only competition for Rookie of the Year honors right now. After a stellar college career at LSU, expectations were high for Reese entering the WNBA, and it’s fair to say she has exceeded them.
More importantly, Reese’s outstanding play in her rookie year has put Chicago in a good position for the playoffs. The Sky are currently ranked No. 8 in the WNBA standings and are tied with the Atlanta Dream at 12-22 this year.
With Friday’s win, Reese and the Sky ended a seven-game losing streak and will be looking to earn the final postseason spot in the final weeks of the season.
