Realme will unveil its 300W phone charging technology on August 14

Today, Realme announced that its 300W charging technology will be officially unveiled on August 14 at an event in China. Despite this announcement, the 300W charging technology will not be available on any Realme phone at the moment. In a teaser that mentions the August 14 date, Realme writes in Chinese: “Break the record again.” This slogan refers to the 240W wired charging that works with Realme’s GT5 and GT Neo 5 models.
The 240W charger for the GT Neo 5 charges the phone’s 4600mAh battery from 0% to 100% in about 11 minutes. The 240W charging technology is also the current record holder for the fastest charging of a smartphone.

So what would a 300W charger mean for you? Well, you could fully charge a 4100mAh capacity battery in just five minutes. A video shared by 91mobiles via OnLeaks shows 300W charging in action. In the video, the phone is charged from 0% to 17% in just 15 seconds. And what’s even more incredible is that some reports say that the actual charging speed, which Realme will announce next Wednesday, could exceed 300W.
While there was speculation that the 300W charging system would debut with the Realme GT7 Pro, that no longer seems to be the case. However, the latter will have an IP69 rating, which is the highest level of protection against dust and liquids. The phone will also feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Besides Realme, Chinese company BBK Electronics produces phones under the brands Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, iQOO and Realme. BBK’s global market share was 20% in May 2024.
Such charging speeds are not found in the US due to fears of overheating and faster draining of the phone’s battery. In the States, the OnePlus 12 has an 80W charging feature that allows users to charge from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes.
