Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois: The reigning IBF heavyweight champion has only one thing in mind for victory | Boxing news

Daniel Dubois will meditate and visualize how he wants to defeat Anthony Joshua when the two meet at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

The IBF heavyweight world champion will face the former king of the division in a spectacular fight, live on Sky Sports Box Officewhere the winner will face the winner of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury later this year.

Dubois already has visions of how he will face Joshua in the Wembley ring and how he thinks the contest will turn out, and he will be fully focused on training camp to make sure that happens on fight night.

“When I’m in training camp, I sharpen my mind,” said Dubois Sky Sports“I play the fight over and over again and just meditate and visualize.

“I do that often and the sparring helps. The atmosphere in the camp also helps.

“This fight sells itself based on me and AJ and what we both bring – and especially what I bring.

“We’ll see how it goes, but I’m going to stay in training camp, focused and concentrated. I’m going to aim for victory with tunnel vision.”

After the fight was announced at Wembley, Anthony Joshua admitted that Daniel Dubois “cracked” him in sparring but did not stop him.

September 21 will not be the first time Dubois and Joshua share a ring, as the duo have previously trained together when Dubois was part of the UK amateur team.

There were rumors that Joshua was knocked down by his future opponent in one session, although the former champion denied this.

Dubois insists that he doesn’t remember those training sessions either, and even if he did, he firmly believes they would be meaningless as he has evolved tremendously as a boxer since then.

“These masts are seven years old and honestly I don’t remember anything,” Dubois said.

A confident Daniel Dubois says he will beat Anthony Joshua on September 21

“I’m not here to spar with him now, I’m here to fight him, so I’m thinking about it. I didn’t bring my head guard, this sparring is a thing of the past for me.

“It was a great experience back then, but seven years later I am a different fighter with different experiences in martial arts.”

These experiences include the big nights on boxing’s big stages, such as the stadium fights against Kevin Lerena and Usyk in Tottenham and Wroclaw respectively, not to mention the clashes with Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia.

He has also fought for titles: two years ago he defeated Trevor Bryan in Miami to win the WBA heavyweight title and then won the interim IBF title in his fight against Hrgovic, which was later upgraded to full world title.

Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois were separated by security before their IBF heavyweight world title fight at Wembley.

“Especially Saudi,” Dubois said, reflecting on what he’s learned from those big nights. “It’s been an incredible journey and I feel like it’s given me the strength to go on from here and get that next win.”

“Going out there and the way we won the (WBA belt) with Don King in Miami was just a dream – it was a trip, it was good.”

“It’s back in London, it’s back to fighting – I’ve missed it. It’s going to be a great night with that feeling, that energy and that excitement in the city.”

Dubois now has a professional record of 21-2 (20) and is also a world champion, so he has little to fear when he faces Joshua in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.

Daniel Dubois is confident he has what it takes to beat Anthony Joshua in the mega fight for the IBF heavyweight world title at Wembley in September

However, he is firmly convinced that he can use the fear that arises that evening to his advantage instead of letting it get him down.

“You must never allow that to happen,” said Dubois. “Even if you are afraid, you have to be brave!”

“If you’re a fighter and you don’t have a little fear, you’re crazy. But fear is good and it’s my friend when I’m in the ring.”
