Matthew McConaughey’s son will be just like his father when he grows up.

On Wednesday, September 4, Deadline confirmed that the Interstellar The actor’s 16-year-old son, Levi, will make his acting debut in the coming-of-age film Path of the Warrior Child, plays a supporting role alongside 45-year-old star Chris Pratt.

Further details about the teenager’s character in the Apple and Skydance film, based on the book by Jocko Willink, have not been announced. The upcoming film will be directed by McG (Joseph McGinty Nichol) and written by Will Staples.

On Friday, August 30, Dallas Buyers Club The 54-year-old actor was spotted visiting Levi on the set of the film, when his little one started his acting career. In his very first acting role, Levi wears a red flannel shirt, a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

In the photos, the father-son duo stands off-camera and talks to each other. On the sidelines, McConaughey wears a blue button-down top, a brown trucker hat, brown sunglasses and a headset around his neck.

While speaking to PEOPLE in April 2024 for the cover of PEOPLE’s special 50th anniversary issue, the father of three said parenthood “has made him a better actor.”

“I have children that I know and that has made me a better artist and actor because children see things for the first time all the time. Their questions are innocent,” he said. “I’ve become a better storyteller because I have children, which means I come home from work and have something like True Detective, and my four-year-old says, ‘What did you do today?’ I can’t tell them what the show is really about, that’s not age appropriate. So I have to make up a parable for them.”

“And so I had to become a better storyteller to tell my kids there’s a good guy, a bad guy and a monster in there, to tell them the parable of the story that I’m in,” McConaughey continued.

According to McConaughey, as his three children grew up, he realized he had never worked on an age-appropriate project for their children.

“What do you end up watching when you become a parent? You mostly watch what the kids watch, and so I thought, ‘Man, I’ve never been in an animated film before,’ and I love doing voice work,” he explained.
