Cruisin’ into the Next Chapter: Classic Car and Truck Show returns to Yolo Aug. 24 – Daily Democrat

Join the Yolo County Library and Friends of the Yolo Branch Library for the 7th Annual Cruisin’ into the Next Chapter Classic Car and Truck Show on Saturday, August 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

According to a local press release, the event will take place around the new Yolo Branch Library, located at 37750 Sacramento Street in Yolo, just a five-minute drive north of Woodland.

This free, family-friendly event is open to all and showcases a diverse collection of classic cars and trucks.

Highlights include a lowrider bike show for youth and displays of antique fire trucks, tractors and engines. Visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious foods while listening to music from a live DJ from Rockwell Sound & Lighting.

An art exhibit featuring drawings of cars by Cache Creek High School students will be featured in the library. Other activities include book giveaways, balloon modeling and children’s activities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win various prizes, browse vendor booths and purchase event t-shirts and souvenirs.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library and the Yolo County Library, all proceeds from the event benefit the Yolo Branch Library, which serves the communities of Yolo, Zamora, Dunnigan and surrounding areas.

Last year, hundreds of local residents came to Yolo for a fun-filled day of car show viewing the nearly 150 registered automobiles on display.

“I think it’s a really good turnout. There’s about the same number of people and cars as last year, so we’re excited,” said Meg Sheldon, the Yolo Branch Library’s car show coordinator, during last year’s event. “You just look around and see a lot of smiles and people enjoying each other. It’s turned out wonderful.”

According to Sheldon, all proceeds from the event go to the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library, who in turn support the Yolo Branch Library in making it “the best it can be.”

“This event is really important,” said Sheldon. “On many levels, but more importantly, it brings the community together. It’s all volunteers who organize it and those who provide their cars. We can all enjoy a fun day together.”

This event is generously supported by the Yolo Fire Protection District, Yolo Welding & Fabrication, Yolo Market, Cache Creek High School, and dozens of other local businesses and residents.
