A huge Kansas City Chiefs fan has been sentenced to 17.5 years in prison without parole for numerous armed bank robberies, the Justice Department announced Thursday.
Xaviar Babudar, 30, also known as “ChiefsAholic,” was also ordered to pay $532,675 in restitution to the victims’ financial institutions and to surrender a signed painting of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, which has since been seized by the FBI.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, Babudar led a nomadic lifestyle in various locations in the Kansas City metropolitan area. He typically appeared at Chiefs games – both home and away – wearing a gray wolf costume.
According to federal authorities, his 16-month crime spree, which began in March 2022, resulted in the robbery of 11 different banks. Babudar stole $847,725, and authorities say most of that money has not been recovered.

In February, he pleaded guilty to bank robbery, money laundering and transporting stolen goods across state lines. Babudar also pleaded guilty to another bank robbery, which was the subject of a separate case in the Northern District of Oklahoma. He was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison on both counts, which he will serve concurrently.
His life of crime ended on July 7, 2023 with his arrest in Lincoln, California.
Police in Bixby, Oklahoma, caught him fleeing an armed robbery on December 16, 2022, after he stole $139,500 from the Tulsa Teachers Federal Credit Union. He was released on bail two months later, and the following month he turned off his GPS tracker after winning $100,000 gambling on the Chiefs.
While authorities were searching for him, Babudar robbed two more banks in Sparks, Nevada and El Dorado Hills, California.
