BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man crashed into a tree and died. He was 92 years old. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has provided the official report of Robert Stein’s death to BocaNewsNow.com. Here’s what we learned:

Stein was driving a 2023 Chevy Equinox westbound in the inside through lane of Boynton Beach Boulevard approaching the intersection with Lawrence Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. on August 8. As the vehicle in front of Stein slowed for a traffic light, Stein did not notice traffic slowing in front of him.

According to police, “Robert Stein abruptly moved from the inside lane to the right, crossed the other two through lanes, and drove over the curb and sidewalk onto the grass verge. Stein then began to turn left, where the Equinox struck large trees. The Equinox struck the tree with the passenger front, causing the Equinox to spin clockwise and eventually come to a stop.”

Stein was transported from the scene to Delray Medical Center, where he was placed in hospice care. Robert Stein was pronounced dead at 3:37 p.m. on August 14.
