San Mateo County – Caltrans will continue work to improve the median barrier on US101 between the San Mateo/Santa Clara County line and Whipple Ave. Caltrans will close a 2.5-mile section of the northbound and southbound Express Lanes (Lane #1) from 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 16 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 19. This is the second of nine 55-hour single lane closures planned to complete the barrier improvement and related work. Each closure will include a 2.5-mile section. All work will be performed outside of Express Lane operating hours.

During closures, an additional lane may be temporarily closed to facilitate the delivery of equipment and materials.

• 9 August – 12 August completed
• 16 August – 19 August
• 23 August – 26 August
• 6 September – 9 September
• 13 September – 16 September
• 27 September – 30 September
• 25 October – 28 October
• 1 November – 4 November
• 15 November – 18 November

By using weekend closures, the number of necessary nighttime closures can be significantly reduced and safety for workers and drivers can be increased.
