  • Sergeant First Class (ret.) Danil Pechenyuk, 26 years old, from Bat Yam.
  • Sergeant First Class (ret.) Nitai Metodi, 23 years old, from Ashkelon, fought in the 6310th Reconnaissance Battalion of the “Jerusalem” Brigade (16th) and was killed in action in central Gaza.
  • Sergeant Major (ret.) Yaniv Yitzchak Oren, 35, from Ein Gedi, a soldier of the 8119th Battalion of the “Jerusalem” Brigade (16th), was also killed in fighting in the central Gaza Strip.

Oren was a staff member at the Ein Gedi boarding school, founded by Tamar Siman Tov z’l, who was murdered with her husband and three children in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7. Oren’s girlfriend was a member of the kibbutz, and he was the school’s educational coordinator.

On Friday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that 24-year-old Sergeant First Class (ret.) Evyatar Atuar from Rosh Haayin, a soldier of the 6310th Reconnaissance Battalion of the Jerusalem Brigade (16th), was killed in fighting in the central Gaza Strip.

At the time, the Israel Defense Forces also reported that in the incident in which Atuar was killed (which was apparently the same incident in which the other three soldiers were killed), four soldiers from the 6310th Reconnaissance Battalion of the Jerusalem Brigade (16th) were seriously injured and three other soldiers were moderately injured.

The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment and their families were notified.

Initial investigations into the incident revealed that an IDF force had entered the Zeitoun neighborhood north of Netzarim Street to increase the security of the street, find hidden tunnels and eliminate terrorists active in the area.

At around 8 a.m. on Friday, the battalion arrived at a building in the neighborhood and some members began checking the building while others waited outside near a wall. Terrorists had hidden an explosive device behind the wall and IDF sources estimate that they had set up a camera that allowed them to monitor troop activities. When most of the unit was outside the building, the terrorists activated the explosive device.
