3 Game Essentials | Flames at Kraken | 7pm

Two: Coherent Trios: New players seek chemistry

The Kraken could have several new attacking lines and we should see a few here. If Bylsma’s hint about who will play is correct, fans could get their first look at the Tye Kartye-Shane Wright-Jordan Eberle combination.

And of course, center Matty Beniers, who has gained at least 10 pounds of muscle this summer, is in the same training group, so this could be an opportunity to see how he does digging for pucks and getting into position to score goals with a more solid frame.

Three: Know the enemy: A Wolf in Flames Clothing

Former Everett Silvertips star goalie Dustin Wolf is in the mix and should play. He played his only game against the Kraken at Climate Pledge last preseason, allowing five goals on 29 shots. Now that Jacob Markstrom is in New Jersey, he’s the favorite to be Calgary’s No. 1 goalie over Dan Vladar.

We won’t see forward Martin Pospisil, who effectively ended Vince Dunn’s season with a come-from-behind blow the last time the Kraken and Flames played each other in March. Pospisil has returned to his usual center position between Jonathan Huberdeau and free agent Anthony Mantha, so he can join those veterans in skipping early training camp and avoiding any potential fireworks here.
