Buford (Ga.) Junior Quarterback Dayton Raiola is committed to Nebraskahe announced on Sunday evening.
The left-handed younger brother of the current starting QB of the Cornhuskers Dylan RaiolaDayton continues the legacy at Lincoln. His father, Dominic, was an All-American for Nebraska and his uncle, Donovan, is currently the Huskers’ offensive line coach.
“The legacy lives on,” Raiola wrote and announced his decision on social media.
Raiola has made many trips to Nebraska during his recruitment, including a trip in late July and a game visit this month. He is the first new recruit for the head coach Matt Rhule and Co. in the vintage 2026.
“It was great to be back on campus!” Dayton told On3 after his trip in July. “Every time I go there, the motto does not change, especially with the coaches! I have a good time with Isaiah Mozee too and it was great to have him there. It was a fun little trip, we did a scavenger hunt but we were also able to talk a bit about ball sports.
“All in all, it was a great time being back with my blood relatives and extended family, coaches, players, etc. It was also fun getting instruction from my sister since she is the general manager of recruiting there.”
Because of family ties, Raiola has long had interest in Nebraska and has long held an offer from the program. Although he is currently in his first season as a starter for Buford High and has one more season in the high school ranks left in 2025, Raiola has decided not to wait to make his college decision.
“The offer from Nebraska is something very special,” he told On3 last spring“It was a crazy feeling when I found out. My dad was there, my uncle is there, my brother watches the games and it’s just cool to know that I have a chance to go there. Every time we go to Nebraska we see my dad’s name in the stadium and it’s a special feeling to get this offer.”
The 1.85 m tall and 93 kg player is currently not in the ranking of the On3 Industry Rankinga weighted average that uses all four major recruiting media companies. Buford is currently 4-1 this season and is the On3 Massey Reviews.
