2024 College Football Title Odds: The Best Bets, Predictions and Expert Tips

College football is back and the question on everyone’s mind right now is, “Who will win the College Football Playoffs?”

This year, the path to the national championship will look different, as there will be a 12-team playoff for the first time in the sport’s history.

The reigning champion is Michigan, but coach Jim Harbaugh left Ann Arbor for Los Angeles, and the team lost several top players to the draft, including quarterback JJ McCarthy.

Can Big Blue win two titles in a row? Or is there another team ready to take the top trophy?

And how about looking at the landscape from a betting perspective? Which team offers the perfect combination of talent, potential and return on investment?

That’s why we turned to our betting experts to find out who they pick to win the upcoming season.

Our experts — Chris “The Bear” Fallica, Sam “Sammy P” Panayotovich, Geoff Schwartz, Jason McIntyre and Will Hill – are here to help.

Let’s take a look at their selection of titles.

Georgia: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)

Georgia easily could have won a third consecutive national title last year, but there were just injuries and other things that came up at the wrong time.

The Bulldogs suffered their only loss of the season in the SEC Championship Game. People are excited about playoff expansion, and rightly so. But that doesn’t mean the field of potential champions is any bigger. The list of teams capable of winning the national title is still short, and Georgia is either No. 1A or 1B on that list.

The Dawgs are strong, talented and will be in the playoffs, just get that ticket and put it aside until December knowing you’ll have it in the future.

LSU: +2000 (bet $10 to win a total of $210)

Georgia and Ohio State will be popular candidates, you know that.

I recently stopped by the South Point in Las Vegas and spoke with sportsbook director Chris Andrews. He’s offering a bet on Ohio State and Georgia against The Field to win it all. Andrews started at -110 each way, placed his first bet on the favorites and is now at -125 on The Field.

I would bet the combination of OSU and UGA is plus money, but let’s dig deeper for this story. My numbers show LSU is the favorite in every single game. The Tigers face Ole Miss, Alabama and Oklahoma at home, and their game against Texas A&M in late October is the toughest road game. I believe LSU’s defense will be better than last year, and skill and speed at the offensive positions are never lacking.

Garrett Nussmeier has big shoes to fill at quarterback, replacing Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, but he can easily do it. I’m predicting 20-1.

Georgia: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)

While the 12-team playoffs allow more teams to compete, they will only favor the teams with the most depth. Those teams would be Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and a few other contenders. I’m rooting for Georgia because the Bulldogs have versatility with a quarterback who has serious talent for the top pick. They are experienced in the stress of the postseason and that will help them mentally prepare for the rigors of the 12-team playoffs.

Ohio State: +380 (bet $10 to win $48 total)

The Buckeyes are the class of the Big Ten, and their only serious challenge on the schedule is a trip to Oregon. This game against the Ducks is the only game this season in which the Buckeyes are not favored. They have dominated Penn State — going 11-1 in their last 12 meetings — and they haven’t lost to Sparty since 2016. If Ohio State beats Oregon, it should get the top seed, leading to a bye and home games in the 12-team playoffs.

Oregon: +700 (bet $10 to win a total of $80)

Most people will pick either Ohio State or Georgia, and that’s understandable, but I’m going to do things a little differently and pick an Oregon team that’s strong on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel joins a talented roster and will give Oregon more deep passes, as opposed to a dink-and-dunk offense under Bo Nix. The Ducks’ toughest game – and perhaps the most anticipated regular season game of the year – is their home game against Ohio State on Oct. 12.

Dan Lanning needs to prove he can get a team over the hump, and that conference title game loss to Washington cost me a lot. It ruined my Bo Nix 14-1 Heisman ticket.

However, this year’s team is well-stocked with wide receivers and Oregon has raided the transfer portal to add to its defensive talent. The Ducks at 7-1 is a great number for a team that I believe will be in contention for a championship.

TIP: Oregon (+700) wins the College Football Playoff
