Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Farm Road 51 near Medical City Decatur Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. According to the Decatur Police Department’s preliminary investigation of the crash, a Nissan Murano, driven by Kenneth Dale Conner, 64, of Bellevue, was stopped at a red light on W. Eagle Drive at the intersection with FM 51. The other vehicle involved, a 2018 Ford F-250, driven by Gary Ray Ballard, 56, of Springtown, was traveling south on FM 51.

When the light changed, witnesses reported that the F-250 struck the Nissan Murano as it entered the intersection after the pickup truck failed to stop at a red light, Decatur Police Chief Delvon Campbell said in an email to the messenger Tuesday.

The driver of the Nissan Murano, Kenneth Dale Conner, and his passenger, Charlotte Ann Conner, 56, of Bellevue, were taken by Wise County EMS to Medical City Decatur with unknown injuries.

Ballard and the F-250’s passenger, Seth David Lutz, 22, of Springtown, refused medical treatment, Campbell said.

Decatur Police and Fire Departments, Wise County Sheriff’s Office and Wise County EMS arrived at the scene.
