The Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, the University of Medicine and Health Sciences and the European Network for the Promotion of Health-Enhancing Physical Activity will host the 19th Annual Meeting and 15th Conference of HEPA Europe in Dublin, Ireland, from 19 to 21 August 2024. The event is co-organised with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

The HEPA Europe 2024 conference will focus on the importance of inclusion in the implementation of health-enhancing physical activity. Two speakers have been confirmed so far: Professor Adrian Bauman, Emeritus Professor at the University of Sydney School of Public Health and Co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity, and Dr Jane Thornton, a sport and exercise medicine specialist and clinical scientist specialising in long-term athlete health and physical activity in the prevention and management of chronic diseases.

The aim of the conference is to engage and network scientists, leading experts, policy makers, practitioners and other stakeholders to improve and facilitate the implementation of evidence in the field of health-enhancing physical activity and to provide a forum for the exchange of the latest scientific, practical and policy developments in Europe and beyond.

The programme consists of keynote lectures, symposia, parallel oral sessions and short 2-minute pitches, accompanied by social and networking events. The conference also features the annual meeting of HEPA Europe and parallel meetings of its HEPA working groups.
