12-year-old NISD student arrested after shooting threats, BCSO says

SAN ANTONIO – A 12-year-old student at the Northside Independent School District was arrested Tuesday for threatening to shoot another student, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The first threat was made by the 12-year-old outside of school grounds on Saturday, BCSO said in a news release. The student attended Luna Middle School in West Bexar County.

During a FaceTime call, the student allegedly showed photos of firearms and threatened to shoot the other student and “raid the school,” according to the BCSO.

The student was suspended from school when school administrators learned of the threats. The press release states that school administrators notified BCSO and officers issued an arrest warrant for terroristic threats and inciting fear among the public.

BCSO said they arrested the 12-year-old at a home in West Bexar County.

During a search, officers found a .380-caliber pistol with an extended magazine, bullets, two fake pistols and two different body armor plate carriers, the BCSO said.

“It is important that parents talk to their children about the serious consequences associated with threats,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said in the press release. “The BCSO will thoroughly investigate these cases and make arrests when appropriate.”

The 12-year-old was taken to the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terroristic threats.
