12-year-old arrested after threatening to shoot at local middle school

SAN ANTONIO – A 12-year-old was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot a classmate at a Northside ISD middle school.

On Tuesday, Bexar County Sheriff’s officials arrested a 12-year-old student who allegedly threatened a classmate at Luna Middle School in the far west part of the city.

Officials said the first threats against the victim were made by the suspect outside of school grounds after school on September 7 via a FaceTime call.

After the victim reported the threat to school authorities, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) launched an investigation.

“It is important that parents talk to their children about the serious consequences associated with threats. The BCSO will thoroughly investigate these cases and make arrests when appropriate.”

According to BCSO, the suspect showed several photos of firearms, threatened the victim and threatened to “shoot up the school.”

The suspect was immediately suspended by the school administration pending the outcome of the investigation. The BCSO obtained an arrest warrant for making terrorist threats that caused fear and terror to the public.

Officers from the Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested the suspect at a home in West Bexar County and executed a search warrant on the home.

During the search, officers discovered and confiscated a .380 caliber pistol with an extended magazine and ammunition, two fake pistols, and two various ballistic armor plate carriers.

The suspect was taken to the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with making terroristic threats, a felony.
