‘1,000-Lb. Sisters’ star Amy Slaton arrested at Tennessee Zoo: police

Reality star Amy Slaton is facing drug and child endangerment charges following her arrest at a zoo in the US state of Tennessee.

On Monday, September 2, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded to calls that a guest at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo had allegedly been bitten by a camel, officials confirmed in a Facebook post.

“Upon arrival, officers were immediately surprised by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” the post said.

Slaton, who starred in TLC’s 1,000-pound sisters since its premiere in January 2020 — and Brian Scott Lovvorn were arrested and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule IV and two counts of child endangerment, according to the post.

Lovvorn, who was in the same vehicle as Slaton, faces the same charges and both were booked into the Crockett County Jail.

Authorities have not released the name of the person bitten or provided any further information about any injuries caused by the suspected camel bite.

“The charges and allegations mentioned in this press release are merely allegations of criminal conduct and are not evidence,” the sheriff’s department added in the post. “The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in a due process of law.”

It was a turbulent time for Slaton. In March 2023, it was announced that her husband Michael Halterman, with whom she has been married for four years and with whom she has sons Gage Deon (4) and Glenn Allen (2), had filed for divorce.

Speaking about parenthood after the birth of her son Glenn in a 2023 episode of the hit TLC reality series, Slaton said, “My heart is full,” adding, “Being a mom is what I’ve wanted to do since I was five years old, and I’ve always wanted two kids. Our family is finally complete. We can now put ourselves in a frame and hang us on the wall.”

In December 2023, Slaton spoke to PEOPLE about the importance of her mental health and raising her two sons after her divorce.

After a tough year, she said her mental state was “worse than ever before.”

“And it didn’t just affect me, it affected Gage and Glenn. It was just hard,” Slaton admitted.
