A man was injured when a large box truck left the road and struck trees, causing a two-hour road closure on Route 47 near Woodstock.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash with injuries on Route 47 and Lucas Road in the unincorporated community of Woodstock at approximately 3:55 p.m. Thursday.
Alex Vucha, communications specialist for the Woodstock Fire and Rescue District, said the call initially responded that someone was trapped in the vehicle following the accident, which occurred south of the intersection.
Within six minutes, paramedics arrived and found a large van that had left the road and hit a line of trees.
Both the driver and the passenger managed to free themselves before emergency services arrived, Vucha said.
An adult male passenger was evaluated at the scene and transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley with minor injuries.
The driver, also an adult man, refused any medical attention, Vucha said.
Vucha said the truck remained upright and was not carrying any dangerous goods. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Route 47 was closed from Route 176 to Lucas Road for about two hours before reopening around 6 p.m.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident.
