What to do after a truck accident in San Luis Obispo County?

After a truck accident, it is important to stay at the scene and wait for authorities and medical personnel to arrive. If possible, remove the vehicle from the road. After you have gathered evidence to support a truck accident claim, notify your insurance provider and contact our award-winning law firm. Here is a detailed guide on what to do after a truck accident:

  1. Bring vehicles to the side of the road. If possible and safe, document the scene with photos and videos, pull your vehicle over to the shoulder and turn on your hazard lights to warn other road users. If moving vehicles is not possible or safe, follow the instructions of emergency responders.
  2. Contact emergency services and seek medical attention immediately.Even if you think you are uninjured, have emergency personnel examine you, as some injuries may not be apparent until days later. Records of doctor visits, diagnosis, treatment, medications, and related expenses are valuable in building a strong case.
  3. Collect information from other drivers involved. If possible, exchange all necessary information with the other drivers involved in the accident. This includes each party’s name, contact number, driver’s license number, license plate number, insurance provider and policy number.
  4. If you are able, take photos and videos of the scene. Take as many photos and videos as possible, documenting the condition of your car, the other vehicles involved, any nearby objects such as skid marks and guardrails, and even conversations or interactions with other people.
  5. Take photos of your injuriesTaking photographs of the injuries you or others have sustained is an important way to document the harm you have suffered.
  6. Obtaining witness statements. When an accident happens, there are usually many people around who can help. Share as much information with them as possible to strengthen your case.
  7. Report the accident to your insurer. Do not feel obligated to make any official or recorded statements immediately. Your financial compensation could be negatively affected if you admit fault for the accident or are tricked into doing so.
  8. Don’t admit guiltThis is one of the most common mistakes people make after a traffic accident. When speaking to a police officer, stick to the facts of what happened. Describe the accident in as much detail as possible.
  9. Keep a diary. This will allow you to remember every thought and feeling you experienced throughout the recovery process. Keeping a record of how long it took you to recover after an accident is crucial evidence in any personal injury claim.
  10. Contact the experienced California truck accident lawyers at Arash LawOur lawyers don’t just find easy and quick settlements. They identify all liable parties to get you the most money back. In addition, our team answers the questions and concerns of many victims.
