According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. near the intersection of Harding Road and Golf Road.

CHP said a 2001 Honda, driven by an unknown person, was traveling eastbound on Harding Avenue. The driver stopped at a stop sign at the intersection before accelerating and driving into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet driven by a 19-year-old Turlock resident. The Chevrolet, traveling southbound on Golf Road, had the right of way and was not required to stop at the intersection.

The Chevrolet struck the side of the Honda, causing both vehicles to continue south before coming to a stop. The driver of the Honda, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

No further injuries have been reported. The investigation is ongoing and it is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
